Whilst alone, Will privately keeps council with an animated cat called Dom - a curious character living inside his computer screen who interjects with observations, questions and actions that shed a light on Will’s feelings to a darkly humorous and often poignant effect.

We follow Will as he juggles the pressures of filmmaking whilst coming to terms with a potential earth shattering loss, causing tension with his creative collaborator transforming the film into something different from what was originally intended.

CASSIUS X: Becoming Ali follows the early years of Cassius Clay, from bright-eyed rookie to world heavyweight champion and from working class intellectual to one of America’s most influential civil rights campaigners. The film reveals how the teachings of Elijah Muhammad, reinforced by a friendship with revolutionary preacher, Malcolm X, set Clay on the journey to become “Cassius X”, before his induction to the Nation of Islam and ascension to the name of the great Muhammad Ali.

We are teaming up with our friends at Stage Fright and Gateway into the Community for an annual evening of community celebration, the FOSCARS.

We will enjoy a short film from each of the groups, that give opportunity and support to those living with learning difficulties, followed by a special singalong screening of the 2017 all singing and dancing hit, The Greatest Showman.

The night will end with an awards ceremony where members of the groups will be awarded for their creativity with our very special, Forum Oscars.

This event is open to all members of the public, and we encourage smart dress and a celebratory attitude to kick off the first annual, FOSCARS.

As we await these new releases our Forum Film Club will be looking back into the catalogue of the two cinema maestros.

Out of the many Marty and Leo collaborations this is one of our favourites and is the only film Martin Scorsese has won the Academy Award for Best Director. It also took home Best Picture, Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay.

In 1972, the community of Watts came together for a giant music event from Stax Records. The Afro-American Woodstock concert held in Los Angeles seven years after the Watts riots.

Mixing footage from the revolutionary concert with the living conditions in the current day Watts neighbourhood, the film won the Golden Globe for Best Documentary Film and features incredible performances from Rufus Thomas, Issac Hayes, The Staple Sisters, and more, with euphoric support from Richard Pryor and Jesse Jackson.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this documentary remains a vital account of American cultural history.
