Away (+ The Lab short film)

AWAY is a dialogue-free fantasy adventure and the debut animated feature from Oscar and Golden Globes winner, Gints Zilbalodis (FLOW), about a boy travelling across an island on a motorcycle, trying to escape a dark spirit and get back home. Along the way he makes a series of connections with different animals and reflects on the possible ways he ended up on the island.


Part dream, part reality, AWAY explores our common, universal need to find a connection.


The 3 minute short film The Lab will play ahead of Away.


The Lab is a final-year group project created by a female-led team of Computer Animation Art & Design BA (Hons) students at Bournemouth University in 2024. Developed under the prestigious National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), the animated short showcases the team's expertise in animation, design, and storytelling. Having won several festival awards, The Lab highlights their dedication to innovation, creativity, and collaboration in the field of computer animation.
