Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War (PG)

Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War

Eric Ravilious was as compelling and enigmatic as his art. Set against the dramatic wartime locations that inspired him, Kinmonth’s film brings to life this brilliant but still grossly undervalued British artist.

Caught in the crossfire of war 80 years ago, Ravilious’s legacy largely sank without trace, until now.

Made with the blessing of the Ravilious Estate, this first full-length feature documentary about Ravilious unfolds in his own words, through previously unseen private correspondence and rare archive film.

Shot entirely on location in the UK, Portugal and Ireland, the film features Ai Weiwei, Alan Bennett, Grayson Perry among others.

The Outrun (15)

The Outrun

Based on the best-selling memoir by Amy Liptrot, THE OUTRUN is set in the otherworldly Orkney islands of Scotland. A brutally honest drama about addiction and recovery, strength and survival, mental health and the ability of the sea, the land and of people to restore life and renew hope.

After a decade away in London, 29-year-old Rona returns home to the Orkney Islands. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress her memory of the events which set her on this journey of recovery. Slowly the mystical land enters her inner world and – one day at a time – Rona finds hope and strength in herself among the heavy gales and the bracingly cold sea.
