In 1972, the community of Watts came together for a giant music event from Stax Records. The Afro-American Woodstock concert held in Los Angeles seven years after the Watts riots.

Mixing footage from the revolutionary concert with the living conditions in the current day Watts neighbourhood, the film won the Golden Globe for Best Documentary Film and features incredible performances from Rufus Thomas, Issac Hayes, The Staple Sisters, and more, with euphoric support from Richard Pryor and Jesse Jackson.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this documentary remains a vital account of American cultural history.
