The iconic first instalment of the Matrix franchise took us down the rabbit hole 25 years ago and has continued to excite audiences ever since with a long legacy in pop culture. But it holds a special place to trans viewers as an allegory on the transgender experience that the world wasn’t ready to accept in 1999 blockbuster cinema. We are giving the audience the opportunity to plug back in and witness some serious sci-fi action, perhaps in a new light.
Set in the 22nd century, The Matrix tells the story of a computer hacker who joins a group of underground insurgents fighting the vast and powerful computers who now rule the earth.
