A selection of short films by filmmaking pioneer Alice Guy-Blaché, as part of Tyne Valley Film Festival

From 1896 to 1906 Alice Guy-Blaché was probably the only woman film director in the world. A filmmaking pioneer, she went on to make films in Hollywood up until the 1920s, when she returned to France and was seemingly erased from cinema history.

We’re shining a light on her career with a selection of her finest films including: Falling Leaves (1912), The Little Rangers (1912), Matrimony’s Speed Limit (1913), and The Ocean Waif (1916).

Why not make it a double bill with our screening of Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché at 16:30?

Tyne Valley Film Festival is a community programmed film festival consisting of 30 screenings across 14 unique venues in the Tyne Valley.
