1964: Richard Burton, newly married to Elizabeth Taylor, is to play the title role in an

experimental new Broadway production of Hamlet under John Gielgud’s exacting direction. But as rehearsals progress, two ages of theatre collide and the collaboration between actor and director soon threatens to unravel.

Written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and designed by Es Devlin (The Crucible), the Evening Standard award-winning best new play was filmed live during a sold-out run at the National Theatre.

Successful professional London couple Sarah (Shirley Henderson) and Tom (Alan Tudyk) are in deep financial trouble. On the brink of losing everything, they’ve managed to find a buyer for their stylish London home. When their long time best friends Richard (Rufus Sewell) and Beth (Olivia Williams) come round for a final dinner, an uninvited old friend, Jessica (Indira Varma), tags along.

The evening quickly takes a shocking nosedive, and the couple are faced with the moral dilemma of their lives. Dragging their best friends with them, they make a series of choices that could either be their salvation or destruction in this charmingly dark British comedy.
