A darkly comic, character-driven thriller of political paranoia. Ewan, a government whistleblower, and Silke, his forthright Flemish wife, are forced to flee to a remote country house in west Belgium, where they are joined by two close protection officers. The group await the arrival of a British journalist, who Ewan hopes will tell his story.
Klokkenluider (Dutch for whistleblower), is the directorial debut from acclaimed actor Neil Maskell (Kill List, Utopia), known for his collaborations with Ben Wheatley, who here serves as executive producer. Featuring a brilliant British cast, including standout performances from Tom Burke (Living, The Souvenir) and Jenna Coleman (Dr Who).
With its slightly off-kilter tone and balance between comedy and thrills, Klokkenluider has shades of Black Mirror and a definite Wheatley influence.
