Synopsis

Screening of photography documentary Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters (2012) presented in collaboration with Hexham & District Photography Society, as part of Tyne Valley Film Festival

An acclaimed photographer with the eye of a filmmaker, Gregory Crewdson has created some of the most gorgeously haunting pictures in the history of the medium. His meticulously composed, large-scale images are stunning narratives of small-town American life—moviescapes crystallized into a single frame.

Shot over a decade with unprecedented access, Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters beautifully bares the artist’s process—and it’s as mesmerizing and riveting as the images themselves.

Tyne Valley Film Festival is a community programmed film festival consisting of 30 screenings across 14 unique venues in the Tyne Valley.

Founded in 1947, the Hexham & District Photographic Society  is one of the longest established in Northumberland. Their annual program brings a wide range of amateur and professional speakers to the area, who discuss their work and photographic techniques, and provides their members with a better understanding of a diverse mix of photographic styles and genres.
