Magazine editor, writer, lecturer, photographer, evangelist, mercurial force; Bill Jay was all of these and more. Bill Jay ignited the fire beneath British photography throughout his life and Do Not Bend documents this through archive images, audio and photographs alongside interviews with friends and family.

Founded in 1947, the Hexham & District Photographic Society is one of the longest established in Northumberland.

Its friendly membership has a range of abilities from beginners, to accredited and professional photographers. Their annual program brings a wide range of amateur and professional speakers to the area, who discuss their work and photographic techniques, and provides their members with a better understanding of a diverse mix of photographic styles and genres.

They organise practical sessions to help members develop & improve their photographic technique; and for those with a competitive nature, they run internal competitions for their members as well as encouraging them to enter inter-club, regional and national competitions.

They meet weekly on Tuesday nights from the first week in September, to the last week in April, at the Torch Centre, on Corbridge Road, opposite the hospital in Hexham.

Led by Forum Cinema Hexham, Tyne Valley Film Festival will bring together communities in and around the Tyne Valley for a celebration of the history of film.
