Hexham on Film

Presented by North East Film Archive

Experience a visual journey through time of Tynedale on film in this unmissable presented screening from the vaults of the North East Film Archive.

Presented by the archive team, this fascinating film show features familiar places - and maybe even faces – from a century of local film history. Edited highlights from the delightful travelogue ‘A River Speaks’ in which actress Flora Robson takes us on a nostalgic journey along the Tyne feature alongside  ‘Northumberland – A New Life’ following a family relocating to Hexham in the late 60s, a Tyne Tees Television documentary taking us behind the scenes at the Hexham Courant and footage of Hexham in different decades all form part of this unmissable event.

This film show is part of North East Film Archive’s North East on Film project, re-connecting the people of the region with their film heritage through special screenings, events and online collections.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, this screening is part of North East Film Archive’s major new project NORTH EAST ON FILM. The project will re-connect the people and communities of the region with their film heritage and providing important glimpses into our history through special screenings, events and online collections.
